The Power of a Mastermind
If you’re a business owner or in the entrepreneurial world, you’ve probably heard a thing or two about “masterminds.”
But maybe you’ve wondered what a mastermind is really like and been curious about the value it provides. In this blog, I’m going to share about my own experience in being a part of a mastermind and the power they can offer entrepreneurs and those in leadership positions.
What is a Mastermind?
A mastermind is a group of like-minded business owners or leaders who are looking to achieve success at an accelerated rate. It’s a collective environment in which you can grow faster, backed by the support and excitement of a group.
Programs structured like this date back to circa Newton and Einstein (and probably even further back than that!). These geniuses knew the importance of never being the smartest one in the room and would plan gatherings that intentionally allowed them to be surrounded by as many intelligent people as they could. They’d pick each other's brains, support, share, and collaborate.
A modern day mastermind is just like that, except we’re discussing business and personal growth instead of gravity and velocity!
I like to think of a mastermind as a fast track to success.
Even though everyone in the group has their own version of success and is on a unique path, a mastermind gives an opportunity for that vision to be looked at, tested, and supported from an outside perspective.
A mastermind is a combination of receiving the knowledge you need to propel your own business forward, and contributing by sharing your experiences, resources, and offering your support to other members.
The Power in Being Part of a Mastermind
Mastermind groups offer a combination of brainstorming, education, peer accountability and support in a group setting to sharpen your business and personal skills. In it, you set stronger goals, and more importantly, accomplish them.
I’ve been a part of masterminds, on different levels and of varying scales, since 2018. Six of them to be exact. I’m lucky to be in one now that’s led by an inspiring leader and surrounded by other amazing business women making huge ripples in a variety of industries. My favorite part is experiencing the different perspectives, considering new strategies, hearing ideas for more efficiency, and the guest educators, teachers, and experts who come in to teach as well.
Since joining my first mastermind in 2018, I’ve come so far from where I started! It’s changed everything for me, and the effects are still happening!
Here’s what I’ve experienced as a result of what I call, “The Mastermind Effect”:
I gained access to high level mentors, a collective peer community and powerful like-minded leaders.
I often felt like I’d outgrown many of my business friendships, but masterminds surrounded me with people who were driven to constantly be evolving. These people have turned into collaborators, trusted brain-stormers and reliable cheerleaders. In addition, I’ve learned from high level mentors and brilliant peers who have already done and created what I want and guided me to what I needed to do.
2. I had a light shining on my blind spots which led to huge discoveries, that I wasn’t able to get in bouncing ideas off and strategizing with just my team.
Because of the commitment to one another, the epiphanies and takeaways I’ve had from participating in groupthink and tapping into the collective wisdom have been massive. This is what has always been missing from simply discussing things with my team. This group was able to see the next level version of me (even when I didn’t) and pinpoint when I was not owning my own BS (we all have it!) And I’ve been able to do this for others as well!
3. I went from a scarcity to abundance mindset, which is now how I operate regularly!
This has been a massive transformation for me which led to financial growth. The attitude inside a mastermind is usually focused on abundance, possibility, and new ideas. We don’t allow one another to sit in fear or scarcity. Being surrounded by this type of energy on the coaching calls, workshops, retreats and continued interaction beyond the leader/host coach, but with all the participants fundamentally shifted how I view my business and my entire life. My business has consistently seen financial growth, increased revenue year over year as well as increasing our bottom line by eliminating old expenses and opting for more efficiency.
In This Year Alone…
I’ve moved out of my office and now have a home-based business
Launched a podcast (a 3-year dream in the making)
Lived on the Seacoast of Maine in July and August of 2020 and still had the biggest revenue month in the history of the company
Built a tight-knit team of more than 10 amazing people who support my vision
Trusted my business to run without me for 12-weeks over the winter
Have been able to pivot numerous times and it’s worked out better every single time I did!
I truly believe that being a part of masterminds has helped me up-level quickly, fast tracking my growth and vision.
Which is why today, I’m the host and curator of my own group program - the Connect Mastermind!
We combine community, business strategy, and mindset support through group coaching calls, workshops, retreats, and private deep 1:1 strategy/coaching sessions. Participants also have access to me via Voxer for daily interaction and support as we go along.
This year, I’m super excited to further enhance the program by bringing on a handful of coaches to support your up-level on money mindset, human design intentional living, spiritual mentoring, content creation and systems operational support.
If this sounds exactly like what you need right now, I'm currently accepting applications for my September 2021 Connect Mastermind and I invite you to join me. I invite you to claim your seat at this table of like-minded all-in women who are committed to supporting each other.
