A Simple Question that Will Change Your Life

I was recently asked an extremely simple, but important question by my coach (yes, even coaches have coaches!).

It all started with a conversation around where I was headed with my business and in my life. She was challenging me to examine how I wanted to show up, what I wanted to be doing, and how to achieve the goals that lay ahead of me.

We began there. In this blog, I invite you on this reflective journey my coach took me on that changed my life, and still has me thinking! Get your journal and favorite pen, and let’s dive in!

What’s Your Vision?

If you spend any amount of time in the entrepreneurial and leadership world, you’ve probably heard that question or a similar iteration once or twice. I’m going to challenge you to ask yourself that question, and then think bigger. Not just what you want to accomplish next week, or the product you want to launch, or looking forward to the next position you want to hire for.

What do you really want? What’s your BIG vision?

Another way to ask it is to ask yourself, “What do you want to be the best at in the world?”

For me, the answers came flooding in:

  • I want to empower and guide women leaders into their best life

  • I want to feel motivated by my work and know that I’m delivering results with a healthy balance of my time investment

  • I want to gain creativity and credibility that invokes aligned connections

My deepest desire is to be viewed as someone who connects to the soul of a woman in leadership. The woman who’s growing a business, nurturing a team and a family, and knows there’s more for her on the horizon. She believes there is someone out there to help elevate her vision and see her to greatness.

I want to be the one to create an intimate container to do this, and with a model that works for me and those whom I serve.

I also have a desire for my kids to have the confidence to be their authentic selves and find confidence that they can do the unthinkable.

And I want to deepen my connection with amazing friends I’ve cultivated and the relationships I’ve brought into my life in the last four years, so they’re more soul-filled.

What is it for you? What do you really want? Take a few moments here to map out your big vision or save this blog post to come back to when you’re ready to journal on it.

Ready for the Question that Stopped Me in My Tracks?

Even though I’d looked at my vision before, and watched as it evolved and grew, I’d never looked at success and desires in a way that would actually allow me to call in the resources, people, and support I needed to show up in the way I wanted.

That’s why, when my coach asked me this simple question, it stopped me in my tracks (and still has me thinking!)

“What do you need to be fully supported in order to get there?”

What do you need to be fully supported to make that big vision of yours a reality? What does it look like to be at that level?

This question invites you to look at your:

  • Business structure

  • The way you’re spending your time

  • Your personal life and commitments

It causes you to ask yourself:

Is this working for me?

If not, why?

Where am I holding myself back from doing what I want to be doing?

How do I want to show up moving forward?

These questions can be hard to answer and be honest about. But when you do, you’ll unlock even more growth that’s available to you. You open up a new way of being supported by people in your life, and creating systems that allow you to flourish and thrive.

The realizations you will have can be powerful and profound and shed light on an entirely new direction.

So, what is it for you?

What do you really want? (And, don’t forget to think bigger)

What do you need to be fully supported to get there?

Can you give yourself permission to embrace support so you can achieve, show up, to create the life you most desire and deserve.

It’s right there waiting for you to step into it.
